Satisfaction: 5/5
I Am Your Beast is the arcade FPS not enough people are talking about. It delivers a fast-paced adrenaline rush, with each level designed as a speed run challenge. Your objective is to shoot, slash, or blast your way through the level, completing tasks as quickly as possible. It’s all about speed, precision, and chaos.
Tech: 5/5
Developed using the Unity Engine by Strange Scaffold, I Am Your Beast proves that great visuals don’t require realism. Its comic book style looks amazing and fits the tone perfectly. Performance is rock-solid, which is crucial for a game this fast. When every frame counts, you need smooth gameplay, and this game delivers exactly that.
Atmosphere: 5/5
The world of I Am Your Beast is brilliantly crafted. It doesn’t just look like a comic book, it feels like one. Everything, from the environments to the design of each scene, plays into the aesthetic. The levels may not make sense in reality, but they make perfect sense within the rules of this world. The result is a setting that feels both surreal and believable at the same time.
Replayability: 5/5
Although the story is linear, replay value is high. You’ll often want, or even need, to replay levels in order to improve your score. Each run is an opportunity to shave seconds off your time and push your skills further. Combined with how fun the gameplay is, this naturally adds to the desire to come back for more.
Story: 5/5
I Am Your Beast could have easily skipped the story, but it doesn’t, and what’s here is excellent. You play as Alphonse Harding, a retired secret agent pulled back in for one last job. When he refuses, things take a violent turn, and that’s when the fun really begins.
Most of the story unfolds through cut-scenes between levels, allowing the gameplay to stay fast and uninterrupted. Still, the narrative is compelling enough to keep you invested the entire time.
Final Score: 5/5
Pros:
- Incredibly satisfying gameplay
- Awesome soundtrack
- Intriguing story
- Beautiful art style
- Great performance
Cons:
- The game is relatively short
