Just from my experience with the open beta, I think Battlefield 6 has the potential to be a great game. It feels like a strong return to form after the flop of Battlefield 2042 and could have a bright future if the developers stay true to their vision.
The Good
Even in this early state, the game already plays very well. The gunplay feels much better than in 2042, and the removal of operators finally makes it feel like a true Battlefield title again. Visually, it looks impressive and features far more destruction in the maps compared to the previous game. The developers have also stated that crossovers will be avoided, which hopefully means no out-of-place skins like those we’ve seen in Black Ops 6.
The Bad
As expected with a beta, the game is still rough around the edges. I ran into a number of visual bugs, ranging from bizarre tearing effects to the screen suddenly becoming blurry. The netcode can also feel inconsistent at times. That said, if these issues are fixed by launch, the game should be in a solid state.
Conclusion
Overall, the beta was a lot of fun. While I’m staying cautious with my expectations, I’m genuinely excited for Battlefield 6 and hopeful that it will deliver on its promises.
